How you know your aging...

Two words.  Mark Wahlberg.

While I am driving home from the store today with my kids...I find myself having to explain how WE (those of us over 30) remember Mark Wahlberg.  This conversation started when we were talking about Transformers: Age of Extinction.  I said....WAIT!  Before he was Cade Yeager he was Marky Mark.  The kids are like, "what is a Marky Mark?"  My reply... "he's not a what he's a who."

I silently laughed to myself.  I think back to NKOTB-that Mark is related to then bad-boy Donnie and how my kids have no CLUE who NKOTB is and how these subjects relate!

So I have to Kevin Bacon Game-esque tell them how all this fits together.  So the only way I start is this...before he was in Transformers--way before--he was Marky Mark from the Funky Bunch.  <---Insert Good Vibrations video--->

So once this starts they start jumping and seat dancing-yelling "I love this song!"  So they knew all along.  Of course too young to truly identify who this superstar singing/flowing was.  So I start with this....when mommy was in elementary school, she was in love with this boy band called New Kids on the Block.  It had five members, one of which was Donnie Wahlberg.  Not only was Donnie the bad boy, he had a brother named Mark that later became a musically inclined bad boy too.  Donnie went on to acting as did Mark and later Donnie married Jenny McCarthy which you remember dated Jim Carrey---then met Donnie on Watch What Happens Live.  (I vividly remember this live episode where I noticed the on camera chemistry thinking to myself---these two could really be something---so I credited myself with their hookup). He was also an underwear model for Calvin Klein.  They also have another show with their other brothers called Wahlburger's.  They are nodding like they followed that the whole time-my daughter remembers all of this from an article she read in one of my US Weekly magazine.  She is very well read--developing this must have knowledge of the world at a young age.

The way I remember Mark Wahlberg was not at Marky Mark but as David McCall from Fear!  Many other women reaching puberty in the 90's can probably relate.  As psychotic as he was---we still thought he was the most intent of lovers!  We never looked at Ferris Wheels the same.  Later going on to play other characters I couldn't resist such as Dirk Diggler, Bobby Mercer, Max Payne, Det Terri Hoitz, etc.

So consider all of the other wealth of history and knowledge just marinating in our brains for another moment like this.  What's next?  Scary thought.  Now where is my Fear VHS at?

New ME

Have you ever been sick of waking up each morning and seeing the same person in the mirror?  Not to say that you hate the way you look, just that you grow so bored with what you see staring back at you that you want to CHANGE it.

Women tend to desire these dramatic makeovers more than the men...but is the makeover for us or them?  US...don't be so conceited fellas!  You wake up and your face is your masterpiece and you can go out unto to world and conquer it.  WE....have to work this masterpiece.  Our skin, nails, hair, makeup, dress ensemble, etc.  It's no wonder the rich and famous hire a glam squad.  We almost need 5 people to make this job look easy.  But somehow we manage.

So over the last week I really decided I wanted a fresh look.  I was rocking this red hair but I wanted a little more dramatic.  So I Googled "red short hair" and the first picture I saw was the one I wanted!  It was decided.  Hair grows back so if it didn't suit me..oh well.  But I made the appointment and went without hesitation.

The funniest part is---within 48 hours of this hair makeover---I had 42 comments and 120 likes on this one photo on Facebook!  So the ONLY way to get a response from all the many hushed followers is to chop and color my hair??? Are we really this into appearance?  I realized this decision was nothing to me because my hair is a part of me but not my identity.  In fact, I am pretty sure I can rock any hair color or hair cut.  But over the past few years I have posted about family, loss, weight problems, anxiety, breaking news, having a baby...but this...this hair cut pretty much topped it.

Oh well, "its for the birds."  I will take the attention.  Who am I to turn away a hundred people checking me out.  Yea, I know---I'm a hottie.  I can confidently state that!  It only took me 25+ years to finally say that!  Big nose, long chin, crooked eyes, oh well!  I've excepted it!  God made me and I am AWESOME.

What is it that you need to be a NEW YOU?  Go get it!  Don't let others opinions stop you from making yourself over!  Today is the day...grab it! Be inspiring to others for once, leave those worries behind!  So what do you all think about my new hairs??  <insert duck lips and stunner shade photo here>

I love my new look.  I feel amazing.  I feel young and rejuvenated.  I feel like a beautiful woman.  I think I look interesting.  So this is the NEW ME,  Proud of it!

You are beautiful chickees.  And you don't need me telling you that!  Have a blessed week!
