Is this anthem really the truth? Do we feel stronger in groups? Powerful in the company of like-minded individuals? Just think about a time in your life where you felt like you were lonely, broken, fragile, dependent. Now think about a time when you exploded in unity, laughed in unison, cried simultaneously...it completely alleviated those other feelings! Amazing how surrounding yourself with other human beings can change the outcome of a day, a moment, a lifetime.
This has been heavy on my mind because I just came off a long workcation weekend with my husband in the Tampa, FL area for a company get together. This included 4,000 of our closest friends and business partners gathered together to share the love of our company, our triumphs, our troubles and to get a glimpse of what the future could AND WILL hold for us! It just amazed me how exuberant we left this weekend and how pumped up and business driven we had gotten SIMPLY by spending time with like-minded people within our organization. People from all over the world with different experiences within the same business! AHA! Is this clicking? We aren't comparing our bank accounts, our success, or the size of our Facebook friends list and Instagram followers. We just needed to realize success lies within each of us. How far we dig determines the depths of our success. This thought process brought me even further into the realms of my mind. Have you ever believed in God or a higher power? Have you ever been touched by the Spirit during a church service? Why do you think this is where Christ is revealed to you and you become completely unraveled? Is it because in this environment you have actually allowed yourself to be vulnerable to this sensation when out in the real world you keep your religion under wraps so that you don't cross a barrier with friends and co-workers? In this arena you are surrounded by fellow believers and those wanting to know Christ. So because you are open and you are comfortable with religion in this space-you are overwhelmed with his presence. Same idea can cross over to the support we find within family and friends. One day we are saddened by the loss of a relative, the next we are upset that someone borrowed money from grandma, next week it will be someone admitting to having an addiction, next month another has cancer. We find hope, support, understanding, coping all within the confines of our family and those close to us experiencing the same difficulties. So why is it so far fetched that this "Strength in Numbers" idea could ACTUALLY be accurate? No matter what the circumstance in life is....can we really change our outlook by leaning on people? I absolutely believe so! I mean you didn't see a hero be a hero on his own? A hero always battles a villain, Christians always battle the devil, success always battles failure, your brain always battles your heart. The hero becomes a hero by digging deep and seeing what is within him that can give him the strength to blast through barriers!! Count on those surrounding you! You can be independent but don't thrive on being alone. MUCH LOVE CHICKEES!
